Root canal procedure is medically known as endodontic therapy. This is an advanced procedure aimed at eliminating infections within the root of the teeth while still retaining the root structure. This usually happens when the pulp at the root of the teeth becomes irritated or infected as a result of decay or damage. Our endodontists at New Look Smile use advanced root canal techniques with the goal of alleviating pain, preserving natural teeth, and ensuring long-term oral health.
Performing a root canal is a delicate procedure to ensure the comfort and success of the patient. A root canal procedure begins with the removal of infected and damaged tissue in the root canal of the tooth, called the pulp. After the removal of the infected tissue, the root canal is cleaned and disinfected to remove any bacteria that may cause reinfection. Following the cleaning process, the canals are filled and sealed using a biologically compatible material to cover the internal structure of the tooth. To complete the treatment, the tooth is restored with a filling and, if necessary, protected with a custom-designed dental crown.
