L’extraction dentaire est une procédure courante en dentisterie, réalisée pour retirer une dent de l’os de la mâchoire lorsqu’elle ne peut plus être conservée. Le processus d’extraction dentaire commence par l’administration d’une anesthésie locale afin d’engourdir la zone concernée et de rendre l’intervention indolore pour le patient. Une fois la zone suffisamment anesthésiée, la dent est délicatement mobilisée puis extraite à l’aide d’instruments dentaires appropriés.
Dans les cas où la dent est incluse, fracturée ou difficile d’accès — comme les dents de sagesse, par exemple — une extraction chirurgicale peut être nécessaire. Il peut alors être indispensable de sectionner la dent afin de faciliter son retrait. Une fois la dent extraite, la cavité buccale est nettoyée et des sutures sont réalisées si besoin.
