Le traitement de canal radiculaire est médicalement connu sous le nom de thérapie endodontique. Il s’agit d’une procédure avancée visant à éliminer les infections présentes à l’intérieur de la racine de la dent tout en conservant sa structure naturelle. Cette situation survient généralement lorsque la pulpe dentaire, située au niveau de la racine, devient irritée ou infectée à la suite d’une carie ou d’un traumatisme. La réalisation d’un traitement de canal est une intervention délicate, conçue pour garantir le confort et le succès du traitement pour le patient. Elle commence par l’élimination des tissus infectés et endommagés à l’intérieur du canal radiculaire, appelés la pulpe. Après le retrait des tissus infectés, le canal est soigneusement nettoyé et désinfecté afin d’éliminer toute bactérie susceptible de provoquer une nouvelle infection.
Une fois le nettoyage terminé, les canaux sont remplis et scellés à l’aide d’un matériau biologiquement compatible pour protéger la structure interne de la dent. Pour finaliser le traitement, la dent est restaurée à l’aide d’une obturation et, si nécessaire, protégée par une couronne dentaire conçue sur mesure.
